Discover with Kailis | Diamonds

Diamonds have long been associated with elegance and sophistication. Shimmering with the light of a thousand suns, every diamond instantly captures the hearts and minds of all that are graced with a glimpse. To gift diamonds is to symbolise your love and commitment, whether that be to yourself or to a loved one.

As with pearls, diamonds are completely unique, and once you find one that you love you will never find one exactly like it.

In all of our diamond jewellery, the Kailis design ethos shines through. We are committed to selecting only the very best diamonds, and each resulting creation accentuates the beauty of its wearer. Featuring mainly white diamonds, select pieces highlight saturated pink & black diamonds, and every Kailis piece features our signature secret black diamond.

Natural diamonds are formed deep within the Earth after exposure to extreme heat and pressure. They are then brought up to the surface by volcanic eruptions and are mined for a number of purposes, including in jewellery.

The value of a diamond is determined by the 4 Cs:

Cut

Whilst the shape of the diamond comes to mind when thinking of its cut, it is in fact how the diamond interacts with light. This in turn affects its brilliance. With this being said, there are a variety of shapes you can choose from, including round brilliant, oval, princess, and heart, amongst others. Each of these unique diamond shapes will refract light differently.

At Kailis Jewellery the majority of our pieces feature round brilliant diamonds, as this elicits the most radiant sparkle.

Colour

This refers to how clear the diamond is. Colours range from D (completely clear) to Z (a warm, yellowish tinge). A diamond that is completely clear is the most desirable.

Clarity

A diamond with a high clarity grade shows less imperfections and flaws. The clarity range is from I (imperfections are visible in the diamond) to FL (flawless). A flawless diamond is considered the highest value. Imperfections in diamonds rated VS and higher are not able to be seen by the naked eye, and require a trained professional to determine.

Carat

This is the weight of the diamond. One carat equals 200 milligrams, so a diamond with 5 carats will weight 1 g. Whilst larger – and therefore, heavier – diamonds are coveted more, its cut, colour, and clarity are also taken into account.

At Kailis Jewellery we use a minimum quality of G colour and VS clarity in our diamond jewellery. We are enduring in our belief to only use diamonds that are ethically sourced are conflict free and comply with United Nations resolutions.

Our San Éna diamond ring collection, which is exclusive to our Raine Square boutique, came to life from a partnership with Royal Asscher®. The range of timeless engagement rings pairs the unique Royal Asscher® diamonds with iconic Kailis design. A celebration of love at its very finest.

Care

With thoughtful care, your Kailis diamond jewellery can be treasured for years to come.

Special care should be taken when wearing fine jewellery, including those with pavé or micropavé settings. They can experience stone loss after impact, which results in the claw setting becoming compromised.

Every jewellery purchase comes with a Kailis cloth – a polishing cloth for silver, and a microfibre cloth for gold – and we recommend a gentle clean of the gold or silver after each wear. If your diamond jewellery features Australian South Sea pearls, it is important to not let the cloth come into contact with the pearl. If you are using a silver polishing cloth, also ensure the chemicals in it do not touch the pearl. When not worn, it is best to store your jewellery in your Kailis pouch or in its original box.

We offer a complimentary standard clean and assessment at one of our boutiques and we recommend this be done regularly. This is especially important in jewellery featuring both Australian South Sea pearls and diamonds. If your piece requires a professional assessment by our jewellers to check for any loose fittings it may incur a fee.
