At Kailis, only those pearls that satisfy our stringent selection criteria are selected for our pearl jewellery. Our Australian South Sea pearls are selected using the Brand Quality Guide made up of five virtues, some which are quality characteristics and others which are personal preferences:
Quality Characteristics: Lustre and Surface
Lustre is the most important characteristic to consider when choosing a pearl. A pearl with bright, very bright or mirror lustre is easily recognisable by its radiance and purity of reflection. For selection under the Brand Quality Guide, a Kailis pearl must have a bright, very bright or mirror lustre.
Pearls may range from being flawless (100% clean surface), in rare cases, through to having pitting or blemishes all over their surface. To meet the Kailis criteria, a pearl must have at least a 30% clean face.
Personal Preference: Size, Shape and Colour
Size, shape and colour are largely a matter of personal preference, reflecting individual style and personality. Kailis' pearls range in size from 9mm to 20mm+. They are offered in a variety of shapes, ranging from classic rounds and drop shapes through to unique baroques, semi-baroques and circles. Their natural colour palette includes premium silver-white, white, cream, silver, yellow and gold.
